We welcome all of our children to participate in our program of Religious Education for youth.  The program is divided into three parts:

  1. Preschool, Kindergarten and Grades 1-5
  2. Middle School, “Edge” program for Grades 6,7,8
  3. High School Confirmation Program, Grades 9,10 and 11

Students in Preschool (ages three and four), Kindergarten (age 5) and grades one through five meet Sunday mornings.   Parents may choose one of the following class times:

  • Before the 9:30a.m. Family Mass (8:15-9:15)
  • After the 9:30 Mass (10:45-11:45)

Both sessions allow families to attend Mass together.

Classes are not held on holidays or long weekends when no public school is held on the Monday of that week.  For emergency cancellations due to snow/inclement weather, watch NBC (Channel 7), Channel 56, or go to WHDH.com, or watch WBZ-TV or go on-line to CBSBoston.com.

Each Sunday when classes are held, we offer “Children’s Liturgy of the Word” during the 9:30 a.m. Mass.  All elementary children are invited to follow the adult leaders downstairs to the stage, where they will hear that Sunday’s  readings for children and hear an interactive homily at their level.  The children return upstairs to rejoin the assembly after the Prayers of the Faithful.  Preschool and Kindergarten children are also invited to join us when accompanied by an older or adult family member.

Our Sacrament Preparation Programs for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, as well as for Confirmation, are two year preparation programs:

For more information on First Holy Communion, click here.

For Confirmation, click here.

Before receiving these sacraments, Baptismal certificates need to be provided by for anyone not baptized at Our Lady of Hope Parish in Ipswich.
