Our Elementary Sunday School program meets at 10:00 on Sunday mornings, after the 9:00 Mass and before the 11:00 Mass.

We cannot overemphasize the importance of Mass attendance as a family.
As the primary educators of their children, nothing better helps form young Catholics than the active participation of their parents. Mass can easily be attended before class at 9:00 am, or after class at 10:45 am.

On some Sundays, Family Liturgy is class. Students, teachers and families will meet for the 9:00 am Mass and gather in the hall after Mass for a social hour.

Classes are not held on holidays or long weekends when no public school is held on the Monday of that week, or on school vacation weekends.  For emergency cancellations due to snow/inclement weather, watch NBC (Channel 7), Channel 56, or go to, or watch WBZ-TV or go on-line to Also watch for emails from the parish the preceding evening, or early in the morning, if inclement weather is expected.

First Communion:

  • First Communion preparation is a two-year process. To receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in 2nd grade, students must be registered and attending class and Mass regularly throughout grades 1 and 2.

  • A child may enter the Religious Education program at any point (and they are most welcome!), but must attend 2 years of preparation before receiving these Sacraments.

  • Before receiving the sacrament of First Communion, Our Lady of Hope needs a baptismal certificate from any child who was not baptized at our parish.

  • First Holy Communion will be held in Spring.
