High School Confirmation Program

Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the "sacraments of Christian initiation," whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed." (CCC 1285)

About Our Confirmation Program

Confirmation strengthens the gifts we received at Baptism and empowers us to live out our call to be missionary disciples of Jesus Christ. Confirmation classes at Our Lady of Hope prepare teens and young adults for the Sacrament of Confirmation by equipping them with knowledge about Catholic Church teaching, providing a safe space to ask questions about the faith, and presenting them with opportunity for prayer and service. Ultimately, teens must choose for themselves whether or not to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. It is the goal of our program to provide students with the tools they need to make that decision.

Before Confirmation, students must complete two years of classes, attend a retreat, and participate in service opportunities. Confirmation classes take place on Sunday nights throughout the school year, from 6:00 - 7:45 pm.
